Edith Marie Stephens, 70, of Triplett, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at Brunswick Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Brunswick, with Father Leonard Misey officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Brunswick. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, with a rosary service at 8 p.m. The family suggests contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association, American Diabetes Association or St. Boniface Church in memory of Edith. She was born May 29, 1939, in Malta Bend, the daughter of Hilary and Clara Teresa (Morfeld) Boland. She graduated from Mercy Academy in Marshall. On July 4, 1959, she married Leonard T. Stephens Jr. in Shackelford. She and her husband were owners of L.E. Stephens Farms, where she was the bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Brunswick, St. Mary's Altar Society in Carrollton, TTT, Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority and National Cattlemen's Association.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard; five children, Teresa Stephens of Brunswick, Melody Potter and her husband, Wiley, of Salisbury, Toby Stephens and his wife, Heather, of Plattsburg, Melinda Kessler and her husband, Reid, of Salisbury and Brian Stephens and his wife, Belinda, of Triplett; four sisters, Mary Loise Alden of Shawnee, Kan., Kitty Malan of Marshall, Alice Kornhaust of Overland Park, Kan., and Suzanne Fuchs of Overland Park; one brother, Raymond Boland of Sweet Springs; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Her parents; one son, Bradley James Stephens; and an infant child preceded her in death.
