Three area men, each charged with passing bad checks, will be arraigned at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, in Associate Division 6courtroom in the Saline County Courthouse before Judge James T. "Tut" Bellamy.

This charge was filed in connection with checks Gabriel wrote in mid-December 2008 to two Marshall businesses.

This case became active Feb. 25. The next hearing set for the Pettis County case is Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 1:30 p.m. in the Division 6 courtroom.

Gabriel has been convicted of several similar charges in Kansas and Missouri dating back to 2001.

Charles E. Cook II, 20, of Marshall, has been charged with two counts of class A misdemeanor passing a bad check of less than $500.

Both charges stem from Cook's passing of two separate checks to a Sweet Springs business Jan. 21, 2009.

Richard D. Kempf, 47, of Fayette, has been charged with class C felony passing a bad check of $500 or more.

This charge was filed in connection with a November 2007 event in which Kempf passed a check to a Marshall business.
