COLUMBIA -- The Slater powerlifting team had its perennial run of success last month at the Show-Me State Games in Columbia, capturing 11 gold medals.
In the bench press, Travis Holt won the junior 14- to 16-year-old male 132-pound weight class, while two junior (14- to 16-year-old) girls also came in first: Betty Goodman at 123 pounds and Itezel Milan at 148.
Emmanuel Milan won the junior 17- to 19-year-old 242-pound division and coach Chris Ferri took the masters 40- to 44-year-old men's 242-pound class.
Silver medals went to Jacob Reeter (14-16 male, 265 pounds), Kaylee Holt (14-16 female, 148), Jarod Haynes (17-19 male, 148), Craig Anderson (17-19 male, 165) and Chris Zdybel (senior 20-39 male, 275). Brandon Bingaman (14-16 male, 181) received a bronze medal.
Travis Holt also took first place in powerlifting -- a combination of bench press and dead lift -- along with Anderson, Goodman, Itezel Milan and Ferri. Awards for second place went to Bingaman, Kaylee Holt and Zdybel -- with Reeter and Haynes finishing third.
