Alma woman suffers minor injury in crash Tuesday

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

One woman was slightly injured in a two-car accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 65 and West Vest Street Tuesday, Aug. 4, as reported in the Aug. 4 edition of The Marshall Democrat-News.

At about 9:45 a.m., Marshall police said, Denise Olis of Marshall, driving a 1998 Ford Windstar, stopped at the stop sign on West Vest Street while heading westbound to work.

When Olis pulled out into the roadway, her vehicle struck a 1996 Ford F150 XLT driven by Mary Barbier of Alma.

Barbier's vehicle spun into the grass while Olis' vehicle spun about 180 degrees in the roadway.

Barbier was taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital in an ambulance operated by members of Saline County Ambulance District No. 3, complaining of pain in her elbow.

A summons was issued to Olis.

Could Geoff Rands please identify whom McMellen is? Is this person MPD, MSHP, or Sheriff Dept.?

Response by Eric Crump/Editor:
The incomplete identification was my fault, not Geoff's. Officer McMellen is a Marshall police officer. The story has been fixed.
