Mary Margaret (Pemberton) Kitchen, 85, of Glen Carbon, Ill., died at 8:28 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009, in Glen Carbon.
Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon, with Fr. Joseph Kerber officiating. Interment was in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to St. Cecilia Catholic Church or Visiting Nurse Association.
She was born July 4, 1924, in Marshall, the daughter of Carl and Margaret (McGinnis) Pemberton. She was an educator, member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and founding member of Glen Carbon Senior Citizen Club.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Kitchen, whom she married May 8, 1948, in Marshall; three daughters, Patricia Slape of Collinsville, Ill., Katherine Lehman of Omaha, Neb., and Anne Kinate of Danville, Ill.; three sons, Michael Kitchen of Springfield, Ill., Edward Kitchen of Lexington, Ky., and Art Kitchen of Beaver Dam, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Sue Pemberton.
