John W. Wilson, 74, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of Marshall and Glasgow, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, in Jane.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall, with Fr. Kevin Gormley officiating. Prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall with visitation following until 8 p.m. Burial with military rites will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born April 4, 1935, in Howard County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Wilson and Mary Eva Hayes Wilson. He was a 1953 graduate of Glasgow High School and attended Central Methodist College in Fayette. He had lived in Bella Vista the last six years, previously living in Adel, Iowa, and Marshall. On Sept. 2, 1957, he married Mary E. Dennis, who survives of the home. He was a territory manager for seed sales, retiring in June of 2000, and was currently working part time as a district sales manager for Crow Seeds. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Additional survivors include three children, Karen Wilson Owen of Knoxville, Iowa, Robert L. Wilson and his wife, Sue, of Onalaska, Wis., and Barbara Nelson and her husband, Miles, of Ankeny, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Morgan Owen, Jake Owen, Lexi Owen, Jon Wilson, Eric Wilson, Chris Wilson, Nick Nelson and Catie Nelson; one brother, Bob Wilson of Glasgow; one sister, Betty Meyer of Gilliam; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Lesley Wilson.
