Martha Lee Brown, 72, of Marshall, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Russ Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery near Marshall. Born March 25, 1937, in rural Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Orville Hawkins and Gladys Miles Hawkins. She was a graduate of Norborne High School. In 1955, she married Ralph Lee Bowlen, who preceded her in death in 1975. On April 14, 1978, she married Kenneth R. Brown, who survives of the home. She had lived in Marshall since 1965 and was manager of Red Cross Pharmacy fountain for over 35 years. She was a member of Gill Memorial Baptist Church and the Coterie Club.
Additional survivors include six children, Jerry Bowlen and his wife. Judy, Joyce Bowlen and her companion, Brett Wilson, Danny Bowlen and his wife, Karen, Debbie Bowlen and her companion, Mike Key, Terry Bowlen and his wife, Kelly, and Gary Bowlen and his wife, Lisa, all of Marshall; three stepchildren, Jeff Brown and his wife, Reta, of Nixa, Paige McDaniel and her husband, Scott, of Clinton and Keith Brown and his wife, Theresa, of Marshall; 12 grandchildren, Staci Bowlen, Crystal Bowlen, Tabitha Bowlen, Cassandra Bowlen, Tara Bowlen, Linzi Bowlen, Megan Cornine, Dannielle Bowlen, T.J. Bowlen, Tyler Key, Rhiannon Bowlen and Alexia Bowlen; six step-grandchildren, Erica Gunderson, Sam McDaniel, Bill McDaniel, Jack McDaniel, George W. Beatty and Ashley Beatty; several great-grandchildren; four sisters, Carolyn Woods of Braymer and Marilyn Anderson, Wilma Gardner and Janet Wheeler, all of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Wellman.
