4 Malta Bend kids hurt in 1-vehicle crash

Friday, July 31, 2009

Four Malta Bend teens suffered minor injuries late Thursday, July 30, in a one-car crash on U.S. Highway 65 in Saline County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Chantel E. Bishop, 18; Kelly L. Bishop, 15; Kendra L. Bishop, 15; and Bryce A. Bishop, 12, were taken by Saline County ambulance to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, troopers said.

The crash occurred about 10:10 p.m. as Chantel Bishop was driving a 2004 Chrysler southbound near 275th Road.

Bishop apparently lost control of the car, which went off the right side of the road, went over a gravel road, struck a road sign and came to rest in a field, according to the report.

All four occupants of the vehicle were wearing safety belts, troopers said.

Saline County sheriff's deputies assisted at the scene.
