Larry Wayne Muenks, 54, of Wellsville, formerly of Marshall, died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Warrenton Manor in Warrenton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Marshall. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City. Casketbearers include Corey Zinn, Tom Myers, Randy Owens, Lowell Owens, Bill Bockhorst, Steve Rieth, Roy Muenks and Bryan Muenks. Memorial contributions are suggested to American Kidney Association or to American Diabetes Association in care of Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, MO 63361.

He was born Aug. 24, 1954, in Marshall. He was the son of Lucille Toliver Muenks of Marshall and the late Roy J. Muenks. He attended school in Marshall. Following his high school education, he developed his skills by completing courses in air conditioning/refrigeration/heating, advanced welding, hydraulics, industrial electricity, sign language and business management. He worked for Boeing Company in the shipping department since 1978. He was a member of National Rifle Association, Quails Unlimited and National Arbor Day Foundation. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed farming, fishing, auto racing and planting trees. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his two sons, Bryan J. Muenks of Wellsville and Roy W. Muenks and his fiancée, Patty Pettit, of St. Louis; his mother, Lucille Muenks of Marshall; two sisters, Mildred Hitt and her husband, Jerry, and Joyce Rieth and her husband, Steve, all of Marshall; a dear friend, Angie Whyte of Montgomery City; a brother-in-law, Keith Zinn of Marshall; four nieces, Theresa Brown of Springfield, Debby Herrick of Raymore, Tenecia Clause of Strasburg and Shelley Parkhurst of Marshall; two nephews Corey Zinn and Tony Rieth, both of Marshall; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy J. Muenks, and one sister, Shirley Zinn.
