Kenneth E. Hollon, 82, of Marshall, died Friday, July 10, 2009, at his home.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Fitzgibbon Cancer Center or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice. Born Dec. 31, 1926, in Ottawa, Kan., he was the son of the late James Hollon and Opal Harris Hollon. On Dec. 31, 2004, he married Jean Hamblen, who survives of the home. He had lived in Saline County most of his life and retired from Wonder Bread as a driver after working there more than 20 years. Later he drove a school bus for the Malta Bend School District for more than 10 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Malta Bend American Legion Post 558 for over 30 years. He was also a member of Central States Union. He was a Baptist.
Additional survivors include one son, Wesley Hollon of Marshall; three stepdaughters, Betty Markovich of Kirksville and Jody Jefferson and Teresa Allen, both of Carrollton; three grandsons, John Hollon and his wife, Michelle, of Marshall, Kenneth Hollon of Marshall and James Hollon of Sedalia; eight step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemary Yohe and Jackie Eads, both of Ottawa; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
