Sgt. 1st Class Teresa Lynn Amos, age 44, of Lohman, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009, at her home. She was born January 4, 1965, in Marshall, Missouri, the daughter of Sherman Lee and Joyce Adams Wilson.
She entered the United States Army on July 31, 1984. She served on active duty in the Army Reserve and in the Missouri Army National Guard until her passing. Sgt. 1st Class Amos became qualified in several fields during her military career including Medical Specialist, Administrative Specialist, Behavioral Science non-commissioned officer, and National Guard Recruiter. She was the Chief's 50 (top Army National Guard Recruiter) winner for recruiting in the state of Missouri in 2001. She deployed to Qatar in 2005 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Her awards include the Expert Field Medical Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, U.S. Army Commendation Medal, U.S. Army Achievement Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, U.S. Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, non-commissioned officer Professional Development Ribbon, U.S. Army Reserve Overseas Training Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M device, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
She was a member of the Saint Michael Catholic Church in Russellville where she enjoyed the quilting club. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, and she enjoyed her farm.
She is survived by two sons, Zachary Lee Amos stationed at Vicenza, Italy, and Cody Wayne Amos of the home; her significant other, Larry Bleich of the home; her mother, Joyce Wilson of Clarence, Missouri; her brother, Monty Amos and wife Raynetta of Camdenton; her sister, Lisa Foley and husband Jay of Versailles; her nieces and nephew, Hailey, Wyatt, Allison, and Madison Foley all of Versailles; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Sherman Lee Wilson on March 2, 2009.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, at the Saint Michael Catholic Church in Russellville with Father Basil Eruo officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, at the church. A visitation will also be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., Friday, July 10, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Graveside services and interment with full military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Teresa Amos Memorial Fund in care of the Community Bank of Russellville. Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com.
