Clifford G. Schroeder, 92, of rural Sweet Springs, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Emma. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Alma. Memorials may be made to family choice. Born Feb. 13, 1917, in Block, Kan., he was the son of the late Henry Schroeder and Amanda Richter Schroeder. On Sept. 8, 1940, he married Erna Gieselman, who survives of the home. He had lived in rural Sweet Springs since 1944 and farmed his entire life. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where he had served as trustee and on the finance board.
Additional survivors include his five children, Darold Schroeder of Sycamore, Ill., Judy Steinmann of Hamel, Ill., Harlan Schroeder of Columbia, Joyce Childers of Sweet Springs and Kent Schroeder of Sweet Springs; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Verna Aversman of Higginsville and Freda Wittrock of Sycamore; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Norman Schroeder, Hillard Schroeder and Pete Schroeder, and one sister, Norma Schroeder.
