Margaret Elizabeth "Maggie" (Olson) Bleigh, 77, of Pekin, Ill., died Friday, July 3, 2009, at her home.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel in Pekin. Pastor Mark D. Friday will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Forest City Cemetery in Forest City, Ill. Born April 29, 1932, in Monroe City, to Oscar Lee and Grace Ethel (Spaulding) Olson. She married Harold Ray Bleigh on June 12, 1956, in Monroe City. She worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1997 as an engine orders analyst. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pekin, where she was involved in children's ministries and was a mentor in the Kids Hope program at Jefferson School in Pekin. She volunteered at the House of Hope in Pekin. She also was a tutor and language teacher at RSVP and did private English instruction.
Survivors include one son, Brian P. Bleigh of Peoria Heights, Ill.; one daughter, Gretchen F. Morris of Manito; one grandson; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Pearl Brooks, Opal Olson and Barbara Smith; several nieces and a nephew; and her former husband on Feb. 6, 2007.
