Robert H. Gerlt, 56, of Carrollton, died Monday, July 6, 2009, in Ray County, as the result of an automobile accident.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Cliff Cato officiating. Born Oct. 2, 1952, in Benton County, he was the son of the late Homer Gerlt and Arlene E. Tagtmeyer Gerlt. He was a 1970 graduate of Stover High School. On Dec. 27, 1985, he married Jane G. Newton, who survives of the home. He had lived in Carrollton the past six months, moving from Sardenia, Ohio, and was employed as a laborer with Pipefitters Union Local 27 in Kansas City. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Jennifer L. Hake of Holts Summit; one son, Damion R. Gerlt of Tebbetts; six stepchildren, Robin Fisher and Christina Vesser, both of rural Marshall, Mary Day of Marshall, Chuck Day of Carrollton and Sherri L. Day and Gayanna Mason, both of the state of Ohio; four grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Friedly of Blackburn and Dorothy Milligan of Stover; one brother, Roger Gerlt of Lake Wales, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons and a nephew.
