Holiday net tourney coming

The Marshall Junior Tennis Association will be hosting the 45th annual Holiday Junior Tennis Tournament on July 9 and 10.

Singles play with be held Thursday and doubles Friday, starting at 8:30 a.m. on both days, with half of the singles contests split between the Indian Foothills Park and Marshall High School courts and all of doubles at the park.

There will be separate divisions for boys and girls, with five age groups: 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 years and under. The 10-and-under doubles competition will be boys and girls together, while 16 and 18 year olds will be combined in doubles play -- with boys and girls separate.

Scoring will be best two out of three no ad for all age groups except 10 and under, which be pro-8 no ad. Awards will be presented to the top three places in each event.

The entry fee is $8 for singles and $16 per doubles team, with each participant furnishing one new USTA-approved can of balls for each event entered.

Checks should be payable to Indian Foothills Park. Registration forms are available and me be left at the park office or sent to tournament director Ryan Carney, 655 W. Drake Rd., Marshall, Mo. 65340.
