Townsend is charged with class D felony property damage in the first degree.
According to an incident report filed by Marshall police, the arrest warrant was issued when Townsend smashed an electronic game device and damaged a car with a baseball bat during an argument with his girlfriend, the owner of the car.
Damage to the game console was estimated to be $300; damage to the car is estimated at $2,500. Townsend is scheduled to appear before Judge James T. "Tut" Bellamy in Associate Court Wednesday, July 1.
The range of punishment for a class D felony is up to four years in Missouri Department of Corrections, or up to one year in county jail, and/or up to a $5,000 fine.
Charges contained in reports provided by law enforcement officials are not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting charges must be presented before a jury, whose duty is to determine if the accused is guilty or not guilty of the charges.
