According to minutes from the meeting, the group is still trying to receive 501(c)(3) designation for tax purposes as a nonprofit organization.
At the meeting, consultant John Whiteman presented attendees with a revised Old Trails Road Corridor Management Plan, which discusses how to promote the area in terms of heritage tourism and scenic drives. The application for state byway designation for roads from Fort Osage in Jackson County to Booneville in Cooper County is nearing completion, he said.
The Partnership is an organization working "to promote economic development and entrepreneurial opportunity related to tourism." Saline County is one of eight participating counties.
The next Old Trails meeting is scheduled for Friday, July 17, at 4 p.m. at the home of board member Cliff Van Till.
