Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Michael S. Sexton Jr., 34, of Columbia, pleaded guilty in Associate Court Wednesday, June 24, to one count of class B misdemeanor trespassing and one count of class A misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

A charge of class A misdemeanor possession of marijuana was dismissed.

Sexton was sentenced to two years of probation for trespassing and is required to make a written apology to the victim. He was fined $500 on the drug paraphernalia charge and is required to pay all fines and court costs by August 26.

Sexton and Keith A. Sexton, 28, also of Columbia, were arrested in February when a property owner reported trespassers on his property in southeast Saline County. Deputies discovered marijuana in the men's clothing and in their vehicle.

Keith Sexton pleaded guilty May 20 and received a similar sentence.

Michael Sexton also pleaded guilty April 7 and paid a $400 fine plus costs for class A misdemeanor possession of marijuana in Boone County.
