Marshall juniors fall to Macon

Wednesday, June 24, 2009
MACON -- The Marshall Travelers junior varsity baseball team suffered a 12-2, eight-inning road loss Saturday to the Macon USSSA 16-and-under club.

Travis Miller fired three scoreless innings as the starting pitcher and went three for five from the plate for Macon. His two-run, two-out double capped a seven-run outburst in the third inning.

Macon (4-9) also got two shutout innings from Mick Garnett.

The Travelers didn't score until the seventh stanza, when Tyler Nelson avoided an inning-ending strikeout by stroking a 1-2 pitch for a two-run double.

Marshall (3-4) is scheduled to host Sedalia for a pair of games Thursday.
