FAYETTE -- Recent Malta Bend graduate Ryan Armstrong has signed an NAIA letter-of-intent to play basketball at Heart of America Conference member Central Methodist University in Fayette.

Armstrong (above), a 5-foot, 10-inch guard, was an all-Cooper County Activities Association selection during each of his four years as a starter. A skilled ballhandler, passer and shooter -- from both three-point range or by penetration -- he averaged at least 20 points per game during his career, amassing over 1,600 points.

The Eagles are coming off a 28-7 season which saw them finish second in the HAAC at 16-4 and reach the second round of the NAIA Tournament. Among other recruits signed by CMU are guard Tyler Bredehoeft of Alma, a 2007 St. Paul grad, who led Concordia (Neb.) in scoring last season.
