Boonville woman charged with passing bad check in Slater

Friday, June 19, 2009

Amber N. Roth, 26, of Boonville, has been charged with class C felony passing a bad check in connection with a July 2008 incident at a store in Slater.

According to the incident report from Slater Police Department, Roth wrote a check for $225 at a Slater business July 21, 2008, and closed the account on which the check was written just two days later. Attempts by the retailer to contact Roth were unsuccessful, and the case was turned over to Slater Police in September 2008.

The arrest warrant, issued June 16, 2009, asks a $4,000 cash or surety bond. According to unofficial online court records, Roth was charged with a similar offense in Cooper County in April.

Charges contained in reports provided by law enforcement officials are not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting charges must be presented before a jury, whose duty is to determine if the accused is guilty or not guilty of the charges.
