Lopez was stopped May 29 on College Street in Marshall when a police officer observed the car Lopez was driving held an expired license plate.
According to the incident report, a MULES/NCIC computer inquiry showed a revoked driver's license and improper registration for the car.
Lopez was charged with class A misdemeanor operating a vehicle without a valid license, class B misdemeanor failure to register a motor vehicle and class C misdemeanor failure to maintain financial responsibility.
According to unofficial online court records, Lopez has four previous convictions for driving with no license, and an additional active case in Lafayette County for the same offense.
Charges contained in reports provided by law enforcement officials are not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting charges must be presented before a jury, whose duty is to determine if the accused is guilty or not guilty of the charges.
