A special guest was present at the Saline County Commission Thursday, June 18. Marshall Police Chief Mike Donnell and Officer Stephen Stewart brought Boomer, the department's new drug dog, to meet the county officials.

Donnell thanked the community for its support in acquiring the black Labrador.

"The town's, and the county's, just been incredible," he said.

The dog and Stewart still have training to complete before they are ready to work together.

In other business, Southern District Commissioner Richard "Dick" Hassler reported that a couple of miles of 150th Trail west of Highway YY will be closed today because of tiling work.

Later in the day, commissioners will attend a preconstruction meeting for a bridge on Harvest Avenue.

The commission's next regularly scheduled meeting is Tuesday morning, June 23, at 9 a.m. in the lower level of the courthouse.
