Gas price watch: Gas prices rise, but still fall short of last year

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

Gas price in Marshall June 17, 2009.
(Geoff Rands/Democrat-News)
Gas prices locally have been creeping back up in recent weeks, but remain well below the levels the same time last year. In Marshall, prices were at about $2.55 per gallon Wednesday, June 17. Prices were $3.69 per gallon May 30, 2008, and would peak at $3.84 in mid-July. The summer increase in gas prices has become an annual event, and energy experts expect prices to peek in July again this year. Prices are not expected to reach last year's record levels, however.
