"Grandma Judy" Blalock, 80, of Marshall, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Marshall Baptist Temple, with Rev. Claude Fields and Rev. Jerry Scott officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born Feb. 25, 1929, in Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Christopher Owens and Edith Williams Owens Brooks. In June 1977, she married Raymond Blalock, who preceded her in death. She had lived in Marshall most of her life and was a member of Marshall Baptist Temple. She provided childcare for over 40 years in her home and was known affectionately as "Grandma Judy."
Survivors include one granddaughter, Stacy Hunt and her husband, Bobby, of Marshall; three grandsons, Jason Carver and his wife, Julie, Lenny D. Carver and Steven Carver, all of Marshall; one son-in-law, Lenny G. Carver of Marshall; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Hunt, Dallas Carver, Timmy Carver and Michael Carver; two sisters, Iona Dickey of Slater and Dorothy Winnie of Centerview; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Maxine Carver and Marilyn Kay Lake in infancy.
