Oliver LeRoy Key, age 79, of Waverly, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at The Living Center, Marshall, Missouri.
LeRoy was born March 20, 1930, in Waverly, Missouri, the son of Oliver Syrus Newton and Martha Ann Belt Key. He attended Waverly schools.
On May 17, 1951 he married Betty Loretta Lou Smith in Waverly, Missouri. She preceded him on August 29, 1998.
LeRoy was a truck driver and had worked for Massman Construction for twenty years. He also had worked for Super Sweet Feed in Higginsville, Missouri, as a guard for ConAgra and an EMT for the Waverly Ambulance.
LeRoy was a member of the Waverly Christian Church and had served as President of Little League baseball and for LaCoMO Baseball.
LeRoy is survived by one daughter, Vickie Lee Zumalt and husband, Gary, Waverly, Missouri; one son, Michael LeRoy Key and Debbie Bowlen, Marshall, Missouri; one sister, Lola Mae Sarri, Camdenton, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Jenny Evelyn Key, North Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Michelle Bristow Mahurin and husband, Frank, Waverly, Missouri, Robbie W. Bristow and wife, Christie, LaPlata, Missouri, and Tyler Key, Marshall, Missouri; and one step-great-grandson, Dillon.
His parents; two great-grandchildren, Carissa Leevelyn Bristow and Blake Logan Bristow; two brothers, Edmond and Charles (Peewee) Key; and one sister, Margaret Carter, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Waverly Christian Church, Waverly, Missouri, with Reverend Bill Koch officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the church.
