Miami man seriously hurt early Sunday in 1-vehicle crash

Sunday, May 31, 2009

A Miami man was seriously hurt early Sunday, May 31, in a one-vehicle crash in Saline County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Derek M. Eddy, 20, was taken by air ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia, according to the report.

The accident occurred about 12:35 a.m. as Eddy was traveling westbound on Route C about three-quarters of a mile west of the intersection with Route O.

The 1998 Pontiac he was driving went off the right side of the road, struck a culvert, became airborne and came to rest in the ditch, troopers said.

Eddy was wearing a safety belt, according to the report. The investigation continues, troopers said.
