According to the meeting's unofficial minutes, the board voted to purchase a 1995 Freightliner Fire Truck using funds loaned by Community Bank of Marshall.
The board had applied for a grant from U.S. Department of Agriculture, but learned the City of Sweet Springs would not receive those funds by June 1, the date past which Fire Master Fire Apparatus of Springfield would hold that truck for the city.
The City of Sweet Springs will be in the second group of towns to receive this grant money, which it will use to repay the loan, with the blessing of USDA.
Mayor Ray Kinney, Aldermen Lewis Bybee, James Lindemann and Shelly Schlichting and City Clerk Ronda Nienhueser were present.
Alderman Billie Clevenger was not present.
The board's next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, at 7 p.m. in City Hall at 324 S. Miller St.
