Dorothy Ellen Banta, 88, a resident of Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City, AR, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, AR.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private interment will occur at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society, the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House at St. Bernards, or Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO.
Born May 27, 1920, in LaCrosse, WI, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Job Harry Bullock and Oma Ricketts Brady Bullock. She graduated from William Woods College and Southeast Missouri State College and taught for many years in the Marshall public schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron B. Banta, and two sisters.
Survivors include a sister, Irene Bullock, of Columbia, MO, and two sons, Byron B. Banta, Jr., of Independence, MO, and Brady M. Banta, of Jonesboro, AR.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
