Adventures in Libraryland: Growth and service go hand-in-hand at the Marshall Public Library

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Did you know that the Marshall Public Library is in high demand? In the past six months, both the number of library cardholders and the number of items checked out have increased by just a little more than 4 percent. If that number sounds small, the actual numbers are these:

November 2008: 7,211 cardholders and 4,923 items checked out.

April 2009: 7,540 cardholders and 5,135 items checked out.

With the continuing growth, I would like to make sure your library provides what you need. I encourage library customers to let us know how we're doing. You can either put a note in the suggestion box (located on the Business Information Table) or e-mail me at crumpa@marshallpublib.org with any suggestions or ideas that you would like to see at the library.

Check it out

Reader's Theater for this month is set for Tuesday, May 19, at 7 p.m. We will be reading "Little Old Ladies In Tennis Shoes." Please join us -- you don't have to be steeped in theatrical experience to participate in this fun (and laughter-filled) activity.

The theme for next week's storytimes is School's Out!

Join us for the following storytimes: Wee Ones Lapsit on Wednesdays at 10:45 a.m., Storytime Super on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Family Readaloud on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.

As a point of reference, the Wee Ones Lapsit is for babies from birth to 3 years old, Storytime Super is for preschool aged children and Family Readaloud is for children in grade 3 and up.
