Clyde "Sonny" Hunter Jr., 78, of Marshall, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born June 18, 1930, in Sweet Springs, he was the son of the late Clyde Benjamin Hunter Sr. and Florene English Hunter. He had lived in Saline County most of his life and was a graduate of Sweet Springs High School. On Dec. 16, 1955, he married Georgia Hazell, who survives of the home. He worked at Fletcher Grain Company (now Central Missouri AgriService) for nearly 50 years, serving in numerous positions. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict serving in Korea and Greenland in the Air Police Squadron. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 191 in Marshall.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Debra White of Marshall and Tina Bott Hunter of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Bryant Hunter, Courtney Fox, Holly Morales and Crystal Fisher; three great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Banks, India Workcuff and Caroline Morales; three sisters, Mary Fletcher of Marshall and Irene Viebrock and Donna Watson, both of Sedalia; three brothers, Henry Hunter of Slater, Bobby Hunter of Arrow Rock and Roy Hunter of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Hunter.
