Incident reports from Slater police allege the three young men entered the home of one of Gibson's relatives and removed a television, an iPod Nano and a .50-caliber Winchester black powder rifle late in the afternoon of April 10.
The report further alleges the trio took the television and rifle "out into the county" to hide evidence after they discovered law enforcement officers were looking for them; both items were later retrieved by Slater police. The iPod Nano has not been recovered.
According to the report, all three admitted involvement in the burglary in written statements.
Gibson is being held at Saline County Justice Facility on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. An arrest warrant has been issued for Vogel.
Gibson is also being held at Saline County Justice Facility on a $20,000 cash or surety bond for his alleged involvement in another crime.

ceymore: Just my opinion, but I don't think the average lawbreaker takes as much as 2 seconds to consider the penalty for any crime they commit. It really doesn't seem to matter. Take the death penalty, for example. States WITHOUT the death penalty have had consistently lower murder rates.
Again, just my opinion, but I believe most offenders don't believe they're going to be caught, so the penalty, whatever it is, doesn't really surface as any kind of threat.
I've had the opportunity to tour Saline County Justice Facility with Sheriff George - it's not a very hospitable place, nor should it be. I wouldn't want to be a guest there.
I understand sympathies extended to these boys about the folly of their actions.
Simple point to be made: If jail was made more unpleasant, and if society was harsher on criminals and punishment perhaps people would be more reluctant to commit the crime.
Punishment needs to be more harsh than the percieved enjoyment of committing the act.
Simple fact: Marshall is too soft on criminals.
ceymore: You are of course correct that public defenders are paid from our taxes. What you may not know, however, is that they are salaried employees of the state, and delays or continuances in a case do not affect how much they are paid. Starting salary is around $36,000 per year, with the max salary around $60,000 per year for continued outstanding performance. Here is a link to the public defender's office with a list of vacancies:

As I've said before, the purpose of bail is to allow a possibly innocent person to remain out of jail while they are awaiting trial or other resolution of their case, and to insure they do appear. If bail was set for every case, and always set at an unreachable level, our jails (and therefore our taxes) would have to be much larger than they already are.
wow stop talking mad trash on these kids get over it all u 50 year olds who have nothing else to do but blog
Wow, Another crime Chad? I bet you are really enjoying 2009. First you laugh about stealing $29 from an innocent man and then you steal from your family? Way to go.
Kathy,
Who pays the public defenders? Taxes, need more be explained. It isn't for free.
My bad about the Shock therapy, it should of been shock incarceration - but since you mentioned it, perhaps SHOCK THERAPY would yield better results!
As for the United States code Title 18 Sections 3141-3150 and Section 3142 there are ranges that the bail can be set at, so why are so amny of the thugs making bail? Go to the higher end of the Bail guidelines.
Also, you and I both know that these kids face multiple charges, arrest for one charge, when they get ready to leave the jail, file the second charge, which they also have to make bail for, and continue this fashion to all charges have been displayed.
Are the thugs paying for their incarceration, I believe in Chillicothe it is privitized and the thugs need to pay around 40 dollars a day for county incarceration. If Wally isn't going to bust people, instead of running a motel, start charging for bed and breakfast.
And Wally doesen't bust people, he calls the State Patrol to do the work, while his deputies watch.
The biggest Joke is when these cases are bound over to the Circuit Court where the Liberal Judge Rolf rules with a kit gloves....
ceymore: I'm in court most days and I have observed there are many continuances. However, it appears to me that most of the defendants are represented by a public defender, not a private attorney. In that case, a continuance pads no one's bank account.
As to retention of jurisdiction, every person in the associate court (Judge Bellamy's court) has 10 days after their first appearance there to ask for a change of judge and/or a change of venue, which is usually granted. The judge makes this announcement before hearing the day's cases.
Bail is usually set based on the offense, not on the ability, or lack thereof, of the suspect to pay it. Bail law comes under United States Code, Title 18, Sections 3141-3150, which allows bail to be set based on danger to the community, and not just on whether the defendant is to be considered a flight risk. Section 3142 deals with some crimes for which defendants can be held without bail, and there are some state considerations, too.
I haven't seen any sentences of "shock therapy." I wonder if you're referring to "shock" incarceration, which is not the same thing.
ceymore, I'm not even going to waste my time answering you. I asked a simple question. Grow up. If they do such a bad job, run for it next election...doubt you win.
PRD123, see if you can keep up with this, Okay, lets see, if you've ever, and I have went to watch the court during the summer you should of noticed that usually, not always the little thugs get several sentences.
1. Judge retains jurisdiction
2. Shock therapy, 60, 90, or 120 days in a facility
3. 5 years probation, sometimes supervised, others non supervised
4. Court date will be rescheduled several times, (this is called a continuance) this serves to help the lawyer bank account
5. Bail is set so the suspected thug can bail out.
6. It seems our police are on trial for the evidence they found, or amateur CSI investigators think they should of found.
7.If Said thugs recieve jail time, they are given the minimum.
do you now follow PRD123, or is the ivory tower too tall, the roses to red, or what?
ceymore: How are the courts not doing their job?
WHAT IS THIS COUNTY COMING TO NOTHING BUT CRIME THIS IS HORRIBLE I LIVE IN SLATER AND I THOUGHT MURDERS AND STUFF LIKE THIS DIDNT HAPPEN HERE! GUESS I WAS WRONG WILL HAVE TO LOCK MY DOORS NOW THIS IS JUST SAD!!!
Go Marshall youth!!!
We heard at the last minute, after I posted this, that Vogel is not in custody. We'll fix it.
Kathy, Please check the jail. Brandon Vogel is in school, and driving around town right now at noon.
The 16 yr old unnamed suspect is also out and about!
How about some support from the courts! Especially when our police officers are doing their jobs!
Check the ditch by the Dysart Farm! Theres a lead for the paper to follow!
I recon that Mr. Gibson is going to recall '09 being a year to remember. If ya steal from your kinfolks you are pretty low on the chain of life son, Someone needs to knock a lickin' of sense in these boys.
