Neva B. Long, 86, of Marshall, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Ozark Riverview Manor in Ozark.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2009, at Gill Memorial Baptist Church in Marshall, with Rev. Russ Johnson officiating. Julie Lewis will accompany Martha Sue Jasper as she sang "Amazing Grace" and "One Day At A Time." Burial was held at 2 p.m. Monday in Bethel Campground Cemetery in Edwards. Pallbearers were Aaron Wright, Nate Hoffman, Dennis Hoffman, Leslie Dority, Bill Davenport and Charlie Bybee. Born April 29, 1922, in Benton County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Dority and Etta Mae Rayl Dority. On Nov. 14, 1945, she married Virgil W. Long, who preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1983. She had lived in Marshall most of her life, was a homemaker and had worked for Banquet Foods. She was a member of Gill Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon K. Davenport of Waynesville and Shelia Hoffman of Nixa; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Stella Wright of Marshall; one brother, Hazel Myrl Dority of Stover; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, William, Floyd, Noel, Earl, Jessie, Lloyd and Wilbert Dority, and three sisters, Flossie Dority, Grace Fern Braden and Adeline Dority.
