Mary Lee Brucks, 95, of Park Hill, formerly of Slater, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Mineral Springs Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 24, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slater, with Fr. Michael Penn officiating. Bethany Weiker, organist, will play "The Old Rugged Cross," "Like a Shepherd" and "Peace Is Flowing Like a River." Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Markovich, Kenny Vogl, Dennis Sanders, Larry Murdock, Russell Kirby and John Wayne Pemberton. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.

Born Dec. 13, 1913, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Maddox Johnson. On Aug. 11, 1946, in Kansas City, she married Joseph B. Brucks Jr., who preceded her in death Aug. 1, 2007. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the church's Altar and Rosary Sodality. She was a longtime Saline County resident before moving to Park Hill.

She is survived by one son, Robert J. Brucks of Slater; one daughter, Linda King of Park Hill; one sister, Shirley Grimes of Slater; and three grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Johnson; and three sisters, Stella Owens, Myrtle Schneider and Eva Gibbons.
