Wednesday, April 22, 2009

WINDSOR -- The Sweet Springs softball team was unable to catch up from an early deficit Tuesday during a 5-3 loss at Windsor.

The home team scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning, an RBI single by sophomore Lindsay Sheffield followed by sophomore Emily Anstine's two-run double.

Junior Devin Eggers tripled and scored in the fourth to make it 4-0 for the Lady Greyhounds (5-2).

The visiting 'Hounds picked up a pair of runs in the sixth, the second on senior Shelby Hayworth's single. Freshman Brittany Higgins brought in a run with a two-out single in the seventh, but was stranded at second base with the tying run.

Sweet Springs (4-4) will play Monday in the I-70 Conference Tournament at Concordia.
