Newscope: USS Missouri caps sold out; organizers plan to get more

Monday, April 20, 2009

Local organizers of fundraising efforts for the commission of the new USS Missouri submarine announced Monday, April 20, that the supply of caps being sold to raise money had been exhausted for the time being.

"The demand has just been overwhelming," said Charlie Guthrie of Slater.

He said one local outlet for the caps, Community Bank of Marshall, sold all its supply by the end of last week.

Guthrie said he has been in contact with the supplier and hopes to have more commemorative caps available in a few weeks.
