He was born Feb. 22, 2005, in Marshall. He has touched many lives with his laughter and his smile. He was a very strong fighter against his cancer, rhabdomyosarcoma, but he lost his battle. He enjoyed big trucks and equipment, working with his tools, watching Bob the Builder and SpongeBob Squarepants, playing with his cousin JJ, riding his bike, playing in his sandbox and with his cat, Copper. During his battle against cancer, he truly enjoyed the tour of Wal-Mart, getting to be a door greeter, getting his name badge and being made an honorary truck driver. He was able to tour the Fire Department, going to the City Department and moving gravel and being on the heavy equipment. He was also able to be a third-grader at Eastwood Elementary School in Kindal Carney's class, where he made lots of friends and did lots of homework. He was also made an honorary deputy for Sheriff Wally George and loved his badge. With his dad, he loved to wrestle with and fix things; with his mom, he watched cartoons and took trips to "his Wal-Mart"; and with his brother, he enjoyed taking car rides. Davey will be forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his parents, David E. Butts Sr. and Jodi Jane Friend; his brother, Michael Wayne Friend; his paternal grandfather, James E. Butts of Independence; maternal grandparents, Bud Joe and Mildred Parker of Marshall; aunts, Rhonda "Nana" Butts and Jamie "Aunt JJ" Gray; cousin, Steven "JJ" Gray; uncle, Anthony "Uncle Tony" Butts; Betty Stufflebean, Randy Parker and family and several other aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Anna Belle Butts.
