Barbara Joan Zahn
Bobby-Jo Zahn passed away unexpectedly at home in Springfield on Saturday evening, April 4, 2009. She was born August 30, 1934, to Edmund and Susie Peters. She grew up in Arlington, Virginia, where she met her husband, Robert Zahn, while he was attending medical school. She was the loving mother of six children, all of Springfield. Bobby-Jo had a great love for music, art, travel, learning, but most of all her family. She enjoyed singing at home, in her church choir and the Mid-America Singers. She was a member of the Medallion art group of SMMA; was president of the United Methodist Women at King's Way United Methodist Church; travelled extensively throughout the U.S.A. and Europe, and attended the College of William and Mary and received a B.A from SMSU. She was also an eager hostess and was always generous in helping others when she saw a need.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two infant brothers.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert, a retired pediatrician; six children, Brian, Eric, Larry, Rebecca, Josh and Rachel, and their spouses; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six nieces and nephews; a sister, Marion Saunders and her husband, Jim of Boulder, Colorado; a brother, David Peters and his wife Jeanie of Richmond, Virginia; and two brothers-in-law and their spouses, Ed and Donna Zahn of Marshall, Missouri, and the Rev. Fred and Laura Ann Zahn of Clever, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, in the King's Way Meditation Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, in King's Way. Memorial contributions may be made to the King's Way United Methodist Church Choir Fund or to Doctors Without Borders.
