Shannon N. Dowell, 32, is accused of doing "donuts" in residential lawns and several wheat and corn fields, causing damage to the property, according to a Sheriff's Department report.
Dowell is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment Wednesday, April 22. If convicted, Dowell could face up to 6 months county jail, and/or up to a $500 fine for each of the seven counts.

He can't be that bad of a person, see attached article.

koeller77 the word responsible is relative only to the person using it. I consider a "responsible person" one who works hard everyday, fullfills their obligations, takes care of themselves and their family, pays taxes and their bills. To assume you might know what he was thinking is far fetched since you are not him and were not there. Do I agree with what he did? Absolutely not! Do I think it was ignorant ,without thought, and preventable? most certainly! I would not consider my position as one of defending but empathetic for a person that has a family, made a poor choice and will live the rest of his life knowing that! I choose to be more positive than negative in all instances in life which in turn is better for all humanity, life is too short! Sorry if my position offended you.
inillnois - Oh, I assure you I have done plenty of foolish & embarassing things in my life. However, none of them have resulted in midemeanors, and I would certainly expect that if they had, I would be appropriately punished - both monetarily and criminally. And I wouldn't expect other people to be defending my actions, either.
My remarks were merely meant to point out that a 31 year old man who thinks that getting drunk & doing donuts in another person's yard or field is a good time is not a responsible person. Do you really think that his actions are those of a responsible person?
let he who lives in a glass house cast the first stone! So easy to stand in judgement of someone and pretend you have never done something that was not only embarassing but foolish, but to suggest that this man wasn't "raised to take care of his responsibilties" is not only rude but a slap in the face to his family! Anyone who knows Shannon his family and what they stand for understand that. I'm sure he will continue to work hard and be a productive member of society and will not fail for one minute to right his wrongs!!
Sorry, outsider, but a man who has been "raised to take care of his responsibilities" doesn't do this kind of thing in the first place.
It was irresponsible at the very least, and at the worst, it was deliberate vandalism with an intent to cause damage to people's livelihoods. I'm 31, and I think the last time I did a "donut", I was probably about 17.
Oh, and you're right. I'm willing to be that everyone that has ever had to go before a judge to stand up for his/her actions would like a do-over. But you know what? We make laws for a reason. It's worth repeating "Don't do the crime if you don't want to do the time." I would think he'd know this at 32 and be able to make that choice.
I've got kids his age, so to me he is a kid. He will most definitely take responsibility for his actions because he was raised to do so. No one has suggested he be given a pass, so your rant is somewhat misguided.
he's a good KID? are you KIDDING me? he's 32 years old. that's not a KID. that's what is wrong with this world today ... no one wants to make our "children" take responsibility for anything, just want to build up their self-esteem and not tell them "no" ... God forbid some child gets told no! and it's only going to get worse.
No one was injured. Nothing was damaged that can't be fixed. Sure it was wrong, but he's a good kid and will stand for his mistake. I'm sure he wishes he could turn back the clock just a little and have a do-over. Who among us hasn't wanted that option at some point in our lives?
Thanks
While I am certain we have all made mistakes it does not excuse the actions that night of two men who clearly know better. I am certain this is very hard for his wife and family and I am convinced jail time would be absurd! Make it right Shannon, I wish you and your family the best and good luck.

They were acting like punks! Shannon your butt deserves what you get out of this, it was stupid what you did and you know it. Concered C what are you talking about? I don't recall.
While I agree his actions are inappropriate and he made a poor decision, my question is why is this individual being charged when other members of our community have committed similar or worse crimes but don't get charged? Not too long ago a young man, while intoxicated damaged property at someone's residence and then proceeded to steal a car and then get it stuck in a field, but he didn't stop there, he proceeded to burn the engine up and the car. To this date, no charges have been filed for what appears to be something far worse than doing donuts in some yards and fields. Rumors have it that the young man's family paid for a new car. Does this mean we can buy our way out of trouble? How come this individual can't pay to have some grass sowed and fix the ruts? Can someone explain this?
The Judge needs to make both of them go to all of the locations they damaged and fix the areas with only a rake and a shovel. A hand full of blisters would help them think better..
blueeyeddevil: No one else has been charged.
finialy a name who was with him
Isn't this young man from a farm family? He should know better than to cause damage to crop fields!
Isn't doing donuts something a teenage kid does? This guy is 32 years old? Grow up!
