Two Marshall residents were arrested for possession of marijuana in connection with an incident on Lincoln Avenue in Marshall Saturday, March 28.

The two men were taken into custody after the vehicle in which they were riding was stopped by Saline County sheriff's deputies because a check of the vehicle's license plate showed it had been assigned to another vehicle.

During the stop, deputies observed an open 12-pack container of alcohol in the front of the car. A search of the vehicle, to which the owner agreed, turned up two small bags containing marijuana. According to the arrest report, both men tested positive for the presence of illegal substances.

The two were subsequently released, pending formal charges.
