Charlotte I. Thurman, 80, of Higginsville, died Monday, March 23, 2009, at Meyer Care Center.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church in Higginsville, with Thomas D. Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at Kaiser-Wiegers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery. She was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Olathe, Kan., the daughter of Henry and Emma (Schartz) Krauss. She married Wallace Thurman on June 13, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She worked as a nurse at the Bethesda Hospital. She and her husband lived in many places over the years as his ministry took them to different locations, including Cincinnati, Louisville, Ky., Ava, Ill., Willard, Flat River, Vandalia and Slater. She belonged to PEO, The Higginsville Garden Club, Bridge Club, Presbyterian Women's Club, and was active in the Presbyterial until the last few years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, John Mark of Raytown; one daughter Lessie Ann Calvert; one grandson; and two step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Paul David; an infant brother; and one sister, Ruth Arnold.
