Sander fires no-no in Lady Chiefs' debut

ARCHIE -- Sophomore Molly Sander threw a no-hitter at Archie to begin the Santa Fe softball season Monday, a 13-1 victory.

Other than a lead-off walk in the fifth inning, which led to an unearned run for the Whirlwinds (0-1) on a passed ball, Sander dominated -- striking out 11 batters.

The Lady Chiefs scored three runs in both the second and third innings, then put the game away in the fifth with five runs on five hits -- starting with senior Joci Russell's triple and including run-scoring hits by junior Lauren Aversman and senior Danielle Bock.

Senior Becca Woodson and freshman Lauren Zitelman each had two hits for Santa Fe (1-0), which hosts Concordia on Thursday.
