Malta Bend kicks off area schools' celebrations of Dr. Suess week

Malta Bend School spent a week honoring children's author Dr. Seuss Feb. 23-27, though Seuss' actual birthday is March 2. The celebration of reading culminated in a birthday party for the author that included cake and punch, a special performance of "The Foot Book" by the drama club and an appearance by the Cat in the Hat, as portrayed by senior Cassie Haley. Marshall schools will celebrate Dr. Seuss this week with assemblies, guest readers, reading contests and themed days.
