2 Columbia arrowhead hunters charged with trespassing, possession of pot

Two Columbia men arrested during an arrowhead hunt in a field west of Nelson Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 25, have been charged with misdemeanor trespassing and drug possession, according to unofficial online court documents.

Michael S. Sexton Jr., 34, was charged with class B misdemeanor first-degree trespassing, class A misdemeanor possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana and class A misdemeanor unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Keith A. Sexton, 28, was charged with class B misdemeanor first-degree trespassing and class A misdemeanor possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana.

The two men were arrested Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 25, when a property owner reported to the Saline County Sheriff's Office that there were trespassers on land he owns in the southeast part of the county.

Deputies located the men and allegedly discovered marijuana in the men's clothing and in their vehicle.

The men also had in their possession a number of rocks, which deputies said would be returned to the property owner.

I understand charging someone with trespassing if they are damaging your property but as someone who enjoys going out by nelson and taking walks threw the wooded country, I thinks it plain BS that they were charged with trespassing.

I still ask the question as to why people need to smoke pot?? I compare it to an alcoholic, both trying to escape reality?

i'm new to the blogging but have read many of the posted comments. it seems that some here are just waiting for the chance to bash pot smokers. not all pot smokers are mindless zombies wandering around without direction. most of the people i know who smoke pot are fine citizens of our fair little city and labeling all of us as brain dead goons is somewhat insulting. perhaps i should just refer to you all as backwardthinking inbred rednecks.

I would like to know why the post in reference to people digging in your yard was taken off. I thought the post was very direct and to the point. If someone came and started digging in your yard, I know you would not be happy. If someone came in your yard and took trees, rocks or anything off your property you would not be a happy camper. Why do you believe someone who resides in the county would have a lesser expectancy of property rights then you would have living/owning property anywhere else.
