Bueker boys set win record

Thursday, February 19, 2009
The Bueker Middle School seventh-grade boys' basketball team completed the season with a 12-1 record, eclipsing the 12-3 mark set five years ago. After losing their opener to Hannibal, the junior Owls won their next 12 games -- five against eighth-grade or older squads -- under the guidance of coach Don delRosario. Their defense allowed only 20.2 points per game, holding Warrensburg and Sedalia to single digits. Team members were (bottom row, from left) manager Linzee Rank, Colton Tolias, Damaris Facen, Christian Stephenson, Tylor Smith, manager Samantha Smith, (top row) delRosario, Caleb Willis, Mason Sandidge, Rayshawn Palmer, Zach Glassmaker, Joe Damiano, Mason Paulus and Brandon Crutchfield. The Bueker eighth-graders, coached by Michael Varner, were 9-4 -- winning the Chillicothe Tournament trophy and finishing second at the Sedalia Tournament.
