County commission approves staffing moves

Thursday, February 19, 2009

Saline County Commissioners approved several new county employees at their meetings on Feb. 18 and 19.

Commissioners agreed to hire Margaret Ann Hall, Samantha Hall, Lisa Shannon and Paula Barr as part-time workers and Jeremy Fisher as a full-time employee. The new staff members will work in various departments including the county collector's office, human resources and the public administrator's office.

Southern District Commissioner Richard "Dick" Hassler was quick to point out that these positions were within the county's current budget. It was more a matter of just "moving people around," he said.

Hassler also reported on the University of Missouri Extension Council dinner, which was held Wednesday evening, Feb. 18. Hassler and Northern District Commissioner Norvelle "Brownie" Brown attended, as did Rep. Joe Aull.

Commissioners briefly discussed a resolution approving Slater's enhanced enterprise zone, which they plan to approve next week.

The commission's next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 9 a.m. in the lower level of the courthouse.
