Katheryn C. Wood, 103, of Shelbina, formerly of Marshall, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Salt River Nursing Home in Shelbina.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, with Rev. Vernon Maxted officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Salt River Nursing Home. Born April 30, 1905, in Weston, she was the daughter of the late Edward C. Cornett and Emma Biscoe Cornett. On Nov. 22, 1926, in Marshall, she married Charles William "Bill" Wood Sr., who preceded her in death on May 25, 1955. The family moved to Marshall when she was a young woman, moving to Shelbina in 1994. She was employed by International Shoe Company for many years. She was a member of Sweet Springs Order of the Eastern Star, First Baptist Church in Marshall and its Fidelis Sunday School class.
Survivors include her son, C.W. Wood and his wife, Sarah, of Shelbina; one granddaughter, Susan Wood of Columbia; one grandson, Steven Wood and his wife, Patricia, of Ocoee, Fla.; two great-grandsons, Jeffrey Wood and Timothy Wood; one sister, Leta Bell Land of Sedalia; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Cornett and Carl Cornett, and two sisters, Dollie Mae Cornett and Maude Thomas.
