Franklin Lavon "Cotton" Richards, 70, of rural Marshall, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mussel Forks Cemetery north of Keytesville in Chariton County. Born Feb. 27, 1938, in Keytesville, he was the son of the late Edward Richards and Clara Clark Richards. He had lived in the Marshall and Slater areas most of his life and was a 1955 graduate of Slater High School. He was a driver for Eidson & Ussery Truckline for the last several years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Malta Bend American Legion Post 558.
Survivors include two daughters, Lori Reichert of Kansas City and Gail Brassard of Nixa; five grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Bucksath of Slater; two brothers, Donnie Richards of Bensalem, Pa., and Bill Richards of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
