Laura Ann Hooper, 76, of Marshall, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at Salt Fork Cemetery in Cooper County. Born Sept. 14, 1932, in Blackwater, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edgar Biggs and Mable Louise French Biggs. On Nov. 15, 1950, in Nelson, she married Clayton B. Hooper, who preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2002. She had lived in Marshall most of her life and was a member of First Christian Church and attended Slater Christian Church. She enjoyed volunteering at Marshall Senior Center.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan L. Smith and her husband, Gary, of rural Hardeman; two sons, Stewart L. Hooper and his wife, Karen, and Sheldon L. Hooper and his wife, Anne, all of Marshall; five grandchildren, Tyler Smith and his wife, Karla, Chad Smith and his wife, Maria, SSG Lathe Ellis, Madison Hooper and her fiancÚ, Kyle Craddock, and John Robert Hooper; three great-grandchildren, Olivia Childs, Clayton Lee Smith and Olin Craddock; two sisters, Nellie Davis and Virginia Chism, both of Fulton; and several nieces and nephews.
