Michael E. Dillon, 62, of Marshall, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. Rev. Kevin Gormley will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Organist Carol Wolfe will accompany Linda McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Ash, Gene Cassell and Richard Pemberton. Pallbearers will be Jason Gluck, Jeremy Gluck, Steve Gluck, Kenny Swank, Gary Winfield and Keith Zinn. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. with prayer service at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials have been established to the American Lung Association or St. Peter Catholic Church in care of the Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home.
He was born Aug. 30, 1946, in Marshall, the son of the late John M. Dillon and Regina Lueckenhoff Dillon. On July 10, 1971, in Marshall, he married Marla I. McNiece, who survives of the home. He was a resident of Marshall for all of his life and had farmed in Saline County for many years. He was a newspaper carrier for The Kansas City Star and served as a Saline County Commissioner for 10 years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Diane Blevins of Lawton, Okla.; three brothers, John J. Dillon of Boonville, Edward H. Dillon of Topeka, Kan., and David B. Dillon of Marshall; one sister, Mary R. Dillon of Columbia; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one infant son, Jeffrey A. Dillon on Nov. 7, 1972; one sister, Barbara J. Twenter; and one infant grandchild.
